Going Home

By Snoopy

After all our babies, the biggest question Rachel has is, “When do we get to go home?!” This is not a statement against hospitals, (well at least not against Silverton Hospital) rather it is a desire to be able to be with the girlies. (They sure miss their mom, and their mom misses them.)

So, when DO we get to go home? As it turns out, tonight sometime! Yep, in and out in 24 hours! So if you can’t come see us today at the hospital, you can come see us at home. We look forward to it!

Visiting Hours

If you would like to drop by for a shot visit, you can drop by after 10:00 AM. We’d love to see ya! (Room 10 at Silverton Hospital)

While I was watching my wife sweetly go through labor pains (I don’t know how she does it, but you can’t describe it any other way than sweetly), I noticed something. Between almost every contraction, the nurse checked the baby’s heart beat. “How interesting,” I thought, “she must be a very cautious nurse.” I didn’t think much of it, instead I went back to wishing I could do SOMETHING to help my laboring wife.

When Benji was born, the doctor said, “Oh! He even had the cord wrapped around his neck! Twice! He’s a tough guy, he never showed signs of distress while he was being born.”

“Huh,” I thought, “what a surprise!” I didn’t connect the two events until I was talking to my sister shortly there after.

She talked about how nice the doctors and nurses were here and how they never let on if there were any problems. No use distressing the laboring woman, she has enough on her mind already. The thing that gave it away, they called a second nurse into the room. Of course she didn’t know this until a few years later, but I was finding this out now. And I was remembering how a half hour earlier they had called a second nurse in. Wow.

I had no clue that there was any thing wrong. But the little purple guy who colored up really fast did have a potential MAJOR problem. How many times does God take care of us when we don’t know that there is a potential MAJOR problem that could blindside us? How many times do we go throughout a seemingly easy day, talking about trusting Jesus, and not see how much he is taking care of us? How many times does everything fall apart and we don’t think Jesus is taking care of us, when actually he is keeping a greater despair at bay?

Thank you Lord for your great care of us! (And tonight, baby Benji!)

We officially have a room, and the baby should  be here soon!

Nurse: “I’m going to ask you some questions. Let me know if you are having one because I can’t tell.”

Rachel: “I’m actually having one right now.”

It’s fun to have a happy wife who can look so well and say with a smile on her face, “I’m having a contraction… and it really hurts!”

Now all we need is the doctor!

At the hospital again!

Update on Baby Watch

Hello everyone, the baby is still not coming, but everything is still slowly progressing. I know Rachel would appreciate your prayers as she is tired and ready for this baby to come. Mothers, you know how it goes! If it comes to it, the doctor decided to induce on Monday (January 2). So, we’ll see.

Take care and God bless!

(EDIT: Thanks Kim… :-)
